How to apply the 10 Commandments Daily

1. You shall have no other gods before me

  • You shall have no other gods before me.
  • Only worship the one true God.
  • Put God first in all decisions.
  • Obey God first.
  • Please God first.
  • Talk only to others by putting what God thinks first about your conversation.
  • Speak first to God in the morning.
  • Study unto the Lord.
  • Apply God’s common sense for your day.
  • Daily read His Word, the Bible
  • Daily pray
  • Daily tell others what God does in your life.
  • Eradicate TV, iPad, phone, etc. before time with God.
  • Do all to the glory of God.
  • Do all in the name of Jesus.
  • Be in God’s will.
  • Ask God to forgive you when you sin.
  • Pray before you eat.
  • Pray before you choose a friend.
  • Pray about choosing a spouse.
  • Pray before you study.
  • Pray before you go on a trip.
  • Pray before you go to church.
  • Pray before you go to school.
  • Always put God first.

2. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything. You shall not bow down and worship them.

  • God has made everything so God can’t be made.
  • Anything you love more than God is an idol.
  • You can’t always have an idol with you, but God can always be with you.
  • Is your checkbook your idol?
  • Get to bed early so that staying up late isn’t an idol.
  • Get up early to do unto the Lord so sleeping in isn’t an idol.
  • Don’t let your phone be an idol.
  • Don’t let the TV be an idol.
  • Don’t let food be an idol.
  • Don’t let a car be an idol.
  • Don’t let a boyfriend or girlfriend be an idol.
  • Don’t let golfing be an idol.
  • Don’t let basketball, football, fishing, tennis, hunting be an idol.
  • Don’t let shopping be an idol.
  • Don’t let your appearance be an idol.

3. You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

  • Don’t say bad words with God’s name.
  • Only use God’s name to worship.
  • Only use God’s name to praise.
  • Only use God’s name to glorify.
  • Only use God’s name to honor.
  • Only use God’s name with reverence.
  • Only use God’s name in a thoughtful way.
  • Only use God’s name to show love.
  • Only use God’s name to show respect.
  • Don’t use God’s name in an empty way.
  • Don’t use God’s name in anger.
  • Walk away from people who say bad words with God’s name.
  • Don’t watch movies that say bad words with God’s name.
  • Don’t read books that say bad words with God’s name.
  • Ask people not to use bad words with God’s name.
  • Don’t keep friends who misuse God’s name.
  • Ask your parents not to misuse God’s name.

4. Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath unto the LORD.

  • Rest on the Sabbath.
  • Go to church.
  • Pray before you go to church to learn God’s message.
  • Listen to the pastor.
  • Listen to the Sunday School teacher.
  • Apply what you learn at church.
  • Read the Bible
  • Pray
  • Help someone.
  • Visit elderly.
  • Show love to family.
  • Show love to grandparents.
  • Share God with someone.
  • Don’t shop on Sunday.
  • Don’t eat out on Sunday.
  • Don’t go somewhere that makes others work.
  • Go to church when on a trip.
  • Write a thank you list for what God has done.
  • Ask God how you can please Him on the Sabbath and for the following week.

5. Honor your father and mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

  • Obey parents the first time they ask you to do something.
  • Be thankful for all your parents provide for you.
  • Be thankful for how your parents help you.
  • Be thankful for the time your parents spend with you.
  • Don’t talk badly about your parents.
  • LOOK for ways to help your parents every day.
  • Care for sick parents.
  • Take care of things they buy for you and your family.
  • Don’t be demanding.
  • Ask God to help you obey your parents.
  • Tell your parents you are thankful for them.
  • Don’t text and drive.
  • Don’t drink alcohol.
  • Don’t smoke.
  • Don’t do drugs.
  • Don’t have friends that will get you into trouble.
  • Do your homework.
  • Be helpful: clean your room, set and clear the table, take out trash, shop vac their cars, fold laundry, help cook meals, help with yard work, wash windows, feed animals, dust, put laundry away, walk the dog, pack lunch, eat healthy….all you do may it please your Heavenly Father.
  • Always tell parents the truth.

6. Thou shall not kill.

  • Don’t take someone’s life.
  • Don’t kill someone’s joy by being mean.
  • Don’t kill someone’s joy by being grumpy.
  • Exercise frequently.
  • Eat healthy.
  • Brush your teeth.
  • Get to bed early.
  • Keep clean, bathe daily.
  • Keep the house locked.
  • Don’t gossip.
  • Don’t say mean things about people.
  • Don’t kill someone’s pet.
  • Don’t text and drive.
  • Don’t drink and drive.
  • Always wear a seat belt.
  • Don’t take illegal drugs.
  • Don’t do what God doesn’t want to do with you.
  • Don’t cause others to get hurt in any way.
  • Watch your weight.
  • Appreciate those who protect you: doctors, police, firemen, military, parents, friends, relatives,
  • Don’t be angry.

7. You shall not commit adultery.

  • Marriage is between a man and a woman.
  • Be faithful to your spouse, only love on your spouse as a mate
  • Pray for your spouse.
  • Come home at night to your spouse.
  • Help your husband/wife.
  • Don’t spend too much money.
  • Say nice things to your spouse.
  • Spend time with your spouse.
  • Put spouse before activities that don’t show love to your spouse.
  • Look for ways to help your spouse save time.
  • Compliment your spouse.
  • Only say good things about your spouse.
  • Love on your family.
  • Never have sex outside of marriage.
  • Read the Bible with your mate.
  • Pray with your mate.
  • Respect your mate.
  • Help your mate serve God.

8. Thou shall not steal.

  • Do not take anything that belongs to someone else.
  • Don’t rob a bank.
  • Don’t steal from someone’s home, car or locker.
  • Don’t steal test answers.
  • Don’t steal someone’s joy by being mean.
  • Don’t steal someone’s spouse.
  • Don’t steal someone’s time by being lazy.
  • Don’t steal from God by not tithing.
  • Don’t steal from God. Give to the poor.
  • Don’t’ steal God’s message, give to Evangelists.
  • In everything give thanks for what you have.
  • Always tip at a restaurant.
  • Be a good helper.
  • If the store clerk doesn’t charge you for an item, always return to the store and pay for it.
  • Don’t keep all for yourself and not share.
  • Don’t steal from God’s time. Spend time with God.
  • Don’t cancel God for other things, ex. sports, trips, playing

9. You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. You shall not lie.

  • Always tell the truth.
  • Don’t turn in a test that has someone’s answers that don’t belong to you.
  • Don’t say you did something good when someone else did it.
  • Don’t do a job poorly and say it is done well.
  • Don’t gossip.
  • Don’t say you’re going to pray for someone and then you don’t pray for them.
  • Don’t say you haven’t sinned.
  • Don’t exaggerate a story.
  • Read the Bible so you know the Truth.
  • Every word of the Bible is truth.
  • Share with others that God is Truth.
  • Don’t say you will help your parents and play instead.
  • Don’t say you will go to bed on time, then play in your room.
  • Your thoughts must be truthful thoughts unto the LORD.

10. Thou shall not covet other people’s things.

  • Be glad people have things.
  • Be thankful for what you have.
  • Appreciate what God has given you.
  • If someone loses something, help them find it.
  • Confess your sin to God if you don’t want someone to have something that they don’t have.
  • Find ways to help poor people get things.
  • Be willing to share your things.
  • Don’t buy too much.
  • Save your money to share.
  • There are people who have less than you.
  • Take care of your things so you won’t covet.
  • Be frugal.
  • Don’t waste things.
  • Don’t lust after other people’s things.
  • Don’t lust after someone’s mate.
